- interpret clients requirements for new build or refurbishment requirements
- produce documents for contractors to tender against
- evaluate proposals from constructors
- undertake comprehensive technical reviews of tower design, line design, programmes etc.
- execute/supervise in-house design work
- ensure that all relevant technical and safety standards are applied
- liaise with substation/cable/civil design teams to ensure that interfaces are covered
- attend site visits as required
- correspond with clients, consultants and team members as required to ensure that projects are completed successfully
- ensure that you work to all procedures and standards set by the client and by mott macdonald.
- undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of objectives.
- undertake other duties as required by your team leader
candidate requirements-
- candidates will have previous experience as an overhead line design engineer with knowledge of all aspects of overhead lines including tower design, route selection, profiling, foundations, conductors and insulators.
- candidates applying for this role will have a degree, diploma or an equivalent qualification in civil/structural engineering and ideally chartered, although candidates who show a high desire to work towards this qualification would also be considered.
- candidates should possess a good working knowledge of pls-cadd/tower or an equivalent design package.
- candidates should be prepared to undertake short excursions within the uk and also overseas to meet with clients and contractors as required.
- a high level of competency in written and spoken english is required regarding both technical and commercial matters.

basic function:
to ensure that assigned plant modification projects (pmps) are executed according to procedures, specifications and relevant international code & standards. focal point for all assigned pmp’s starting from conceptual design till execution and final close out. to provide civil/ structural engineering input to other disciplines as well as other departments/ functions.
mainly responsible / leads civil/ structural related plant modification projects, raised through change requisition by mainly operations (olefin and polyolefin) and other departments.
provides civil/ structural discipline input to team member in other discipline (electrical / inst. & control / mechanical projects as required.
coordinates and obtains other disciplines and concerned parties inputs required to complete the assigned tasks including pmps.
provides detailed studies and proposals to the client / requesting department for pre-project, detail design and construction purposes.
coordinates with various departmental interfaces to finalize and agree on the final solution to plant operation problems related to projects.
prepares work scope for the consultant, reviews the design works and studies performed by engineering consultants and ensure that they are in accordance with the technical requirements. review and approve drawings, specifications and technical; documents for all instruments/control design related work.
carries out technical bid clarifications, assessments and evaluations on tendered equipment, engineering services and projects/studies.
must be fluent in english and should have knowledge of design software such as staadpro, sap, etabs or equivalent.
